It’s intriguing how something as basic as food choice can elicit such contrasting opinions, revealing the complex and diverse nature of our relationship with nourishment.

The benefits of veganism do have scientific backing to them. A much broader driving principle of veganism is the general belief that humans must become more virtuous with evolution. This is why every religion has criticised consumption of meat in one form or the other. Hinduism, Buddhism,  Jainism, Sikhs, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Rastafari, and Taoism  encourage followers to practise compassion and non-violence, often leading to vegetarian or vegan diets.
